Cameroon: Several Douala neighborhoods gripped by fear as notorious criminal gang multiply attacks

There has been general panic and fear in Douala, economic capital of Cameroon, this Tuesday evening, following the invasion of “Les microbes,” a notorious group of criminals within the city.

Inhabitants of some neighborhoods such as Ndogbong, New bell, Akwa, Deido, and many others say they have been gripped by fear following attacks by the said group. In some areas, streets have been deserted.

Reports say a government technical secondary school also came under attack.

The exact number of casualties are unknown, but several persons have been injured since the group relaunch attacks in some Douala neighborhoods.

The attacks have raised questions about the efficiency of security forces in city, given that this has happened many times before.

‘Les Microbes’ have existed for years, and have been a constant menace to the population of Douala.
