A young man was found dead in river in Bonaberi, Douala in the Littoral Region of Cameroon.
The incident occured Monday April 17, 2023.
A source in Bonaberi told MMI that Mounga Junior drowned while struggling to make ends meet from sand digging.
He reportedly drowned when other colleagues were on launch break.
“He was in search of sand with his colleagues. He was left behind when his other colleagues went for launch,” one of the colleagues told MMI.
Without further details he added that: “…………Mounga jumped into the river and died immediately.”
The intervention of his colleagues only led to the recovery of his corpse from the river.
What happened before the unfortunate incident remains a mystery.
His body was handed to the family after a police investigation whose outcome was not made public.
Junior hailed from Upper Nkam Division of the West region of Cameroon.
