Cameroonian celebrities have taken to social media to express their profound grief and outrage in response to the recent horrifying massacre in Mamfe, which tragically claimed the lives of close to 30 people.

The brutal incident unfolded in the early hours of yesterday morning, sending shockwaves through the nation and beyond.

Condemnation has poured in from all quarters, including the Cameroonian entertainment industry.

Among those who used their social media platforms to voice their sorrow and anger is the renowned musician Mani Bella, known for her staunch advocacy against inhuman acts.

She took to Facebook to write, “Mamfe! May the souls of our brothers Rest In Peace,” echoing the sentiments of countless Cameroonians.

Actress Muriel Blanche, deeply affected by the tragedy, posted on Facebook, exclaiming, “My God Mamfe ehhhh Lord,” as a heartfelt expression of her condolences.

The influential musician Salatiel, in a more succinct but equally poignant manner, shared the word “Mamfe” alongside a grief emoji, signifying the depth of his emotions.

Also, Cameroonian comedian Moustik le Karismatik reacted uniquely by stating, “40 bloody feathers of the feud Sign the guestbook of the 41st anniversary of the renewal” on his Facebook page.

Former Miss Cameroon, Julia Samantha, also used her Facebook presence to convey her profound grief, simply writing “Mamfe” with an added candle, symbolising the memory of the victims.

Meanwhile, tech guru Rebecca Enonchong took to X to call for an end to the ongoing conflict in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions

The act of terror perpetrated in Mamfe, killing dozens of innocent civilians in a most despicable, barbaric manner, must be investigated and those responsible brought to justice.
More than anything, we must #EndAnglophoneCrisis and stop the cycle of violence.

These expressions of sorrow and outrage from Cameroonian celebrities come in the backdrop of the ongoing Anglophone Crisis.

The protracted crisis that started as an industrial strike by Anglophone lawyers and teachers morphed into an armed conflict that has claimed over 6,000 civilian lives.

For years, Cameroonian entertainers have been called upon to speak out, with the hope that their collective voices might influence the government to address the ongoing violence.

In recent times, many of them have united with others in protest against the killings, earning appreciation from many Cameroonians.

The Mamfe massacre serves as a reminder of the relentless violence that continues to afflict Cameroon.

The ongoing conflict between the government and separatists has claimed the lives of thousands and displaced over a million more, even as government officials celebrate President Paul Biya’s 41 years in power.

The nation remains in mourning, hoping for a resolution to this prolonged crisis.
