Two Cameroonian female footballers, Ajara Nchout Njoya and Ange Bawou, have secured nominations for the prestigious 2023 CAF Awards.
Nchout Njoya, a formidable striker for the Indomitable Lionesses, Cameroon’s national women’s football team, is vying for the “Women’s Player of the Year” award for the second consecutive year. With a record of over 20 goals for her country, Nchout Njoya has been a pivotal figure in the Indomitable Lioness’ recent successes.

On the other hand, Ange Bawou, a highly praised goalkeeper for the Indomitable Lionesses, has earned her nomination in the “Goalkeeper of the Year” category. Her stellar performances were evident as she clinched the title of best goalkeeper in the Nigerian league this season and secured the second spot in the Women’s Champions League.
In the highly competitive “Women’s Player of the Year” category, Nchout Njoya faces stiff competition from outstanding players like Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala, who boasts six nominees from her country. Other notable contenders include Andile Dlamine from South Africa and Sabrina Elloudi from Tunisia.

Meanwhile, Ange Bawou’s quest for the “Goalkeeper of the Year” title puts her in contention with formidable opponents such as Dolores Masongo from Equatorial Guinea, Chiamaka Nnadozie from Nigeria, and Najiat Abass Idrissa from Tanzania.
The 2023 CAF Awards promise to be fiercely contested in the women’s category, with exceptional players showcasing their prowess from various countries. The prospect of a Cameroonian player triumphing in one of the categories adds to the excitement surrounding the event.
The CAF Awards, held annually to honour the continent’s top football talents, rely on the votes of a distinguished panel of journalists and experts. The winners will be revealed during a grand ceremony scheduled for December 11 in Marrakech, Morocco.
