The Cameroonian Government has created a committee to identify and bring to trial sponsors of the crisis in the North West and South West Regions living abroad, particularly in the United States.

The announcement was made by the Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense Joseph Beti Assomo during the end-of-year security meeting.

“The Head of State has set up, and I can say so here, a unit that is working on this file. It includes the Ministry of External Relations, the services of the Presidency, military justice, the police, the intelligence services, and then some Cameroonian or American lawyers who work for us…” declared the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense yesterday Monday in Yaoundé.

“And everyone works in a cell that prepares the files to be submitted to the American authorities. These files have enabled us to strengthen our cooperation in matters of justice. The results have started to be recorded. I would like to announce that this is not only the beginning. Because we have already made dozens of files, ” he went ahead.

He equally acknowledged that the Cameroonian Government had so far made denunciations to the American authorities without formal elements.”

The criticism that the American authorities once made against us was that they made denunciations without a file and proof. Since the President of the Republic instructed us to work in this committee, I assure you that considerable work has been done, ” he added.

This announcement comes as US prosecutors indicted in early November, three Cameroonians residing in the United States for reasons related to the Anglophone crisis.

They were arrested for soliciting and collecting funds to purchase equipment, supplies, weapons, and explosive materials intended for use in attacks against personnel of the Cameroonian Government, according to the United States Department of State in charge of Justice.
