The Gabonese justice system has sentenced Paulette Okome Nguema, a Cameroonian International to 15 years in prison and a fine of 100 Million FCFA for the illegal trafficking of Gold.
According to Gabonese local media, she had been carrying this activity since 2019 in the Meba camp in Mitzic, in the North of Gabon.
This region of Gabon is known to be stacked with illegal miners who have for long worked with the complicity of the local population to clandestinely export the country’s resources out.
Gabonese authorities have recently deployed security agents who have apprehended more and more traffickers from the region and brought them to justice.
In addition to Mrs Nguema, two other Cameroonians were equally given 10 years each in jail for complicity in the illegal trafficking of Gold.
