Professor Enoh Tanjong, popularly referred to as “the Pope” of the department of Journalism and mass communication (JMC) in the University of Buea, South West Region of Cameroon has been buried.

His funeral ceremony took place today Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Molyko stadium in Buea. The ceremony saw a massive turnout of friends, family, former colleagues and students of the iconic professor.

According to Dr Lizzie Wantchami, Newly Installed JMC Head of Department, “I call him my academic father…Professor Enoh Tanjong was my supervisor right from the undergraduate, master and PhD level.”

She added, “He has been an instrumental person in my life as he was the first person who introduced me into the classroom in that department. He Inspired me and asked me to be outspoken.”

To Funge Diffang, Professor Enoh Tanjong encouraged people to engage themselves in hard work.” He was very good in the sense that he will make you understand that if you work very hard, you will get what you want. To him, nothing is impossible as long as you put in effort.”

The founder of JMC passed unto glory on Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Yaounde, Center Region of Cameroon.

Professor Enoh Tanjong was a seasoned expert in Journalism and Mass Communication with over 30 years of experience in media and communication education, media research and consultancies on news assessment.

Professor Enoh Tanjong, it should be noted was the brain behind the creation of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department of the University of Buea which has trained some of Cameroon’s finest journalists.
