As of Monday April 6th 2020,the whereabouts of the journalist and correspondent of Canal 2 TV and Sweet FM radio in France is not known.

Eric Golf Kouatchou a source has told Mimi Mefo Info was taken out of his hotel room on Thusrday April 2nd 2020 by men in military uniform to an unknown destination. Since then, no official statement has been issued by security services in Douala on his whereabouts.

According to a source, the taking away of Eric Golf is not unrelated with his supposed collaboration with elements of Brigade Anti Sardinard (BAS) (Cameroonian activists in the diaspora standing against the governance of President Paul Biya in Cameroon).

At the level of his employer (Canal 2 television), there has been no official statement concerning the situation of their journalist. A source in the media house who we prefer not to name for security reasons says Canal 2 international hierarchy is “monitoring” the situation and will comment in due course.

Eric Golf Kouatchou arrived Douala Cameroon from France on the 17th of March and was quarantined in a hotel in accordance with a measure by the government to monitor the health of all persons coming from coronavirus infected countries. It was from his hotel room that he was taken away by security agents.

The Cameroon Journalists Trade Union in a release issued by its president Denis Kwebo has called for the release of the journalist. Eric Golf’s colleagues at Canal 2 also remain worried about his whereabouts.
