Bishop George NKUO of the Kumbo Diocese in the North West of Cameroon is bothered yet optimistic that His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi, Fon Nsehm Mbinglo II and others will be released by kidnappers.
Speaking to Mimi Mefo Info on phone Friday, November 6, 2020 , he says, “We have faith that the Cardinal and others will be released safe and sound. We are applying all means available to ensure that. We have called on Cameroonians to talk to God in prayers”.
Bishop George NKUO did not specify the means they are using to get those in captivity released.
Other sources in Bui division have suggested that a military intervention to get the hostages release can be disastrous.
Christian Cardinal Tumi, Fon Nsehm Mbinglo II and other persons were kidnapped in Baba village in the North West region on Thursday, November 5, 2020 on their way to Kumbo from Bamenda. Since then, Cameroonians have been pointing accusing fingers on separatists fighting for the independence of Southern Cameroon though they have not officially claimed responsibility for the incident.
The kidnapping of Cardinal Tumi, 90-year-old, has been condemned by many Cameroonians. This comes less than a week after eleven teachers of Presbyterian Nursery and Primary School were kidnapped from their school campus in Kumbo.
Cardinal Tumi and other dignitaries were in a convoy to Kumbo to see off the paramount ruler of Nso Land that had been out of his palace for months due to insecurity.
