Three new priests have been ordained into the priesthood in the Diocese of Mamfe, Southwest Region, barely two months after one of the Diocese’s priests resigned.
The incoming prelates – Rev Clinton Tendongmo, Rev Samuel Arrey and Rev Titus Eyong were ordained by Bishop Aloysius Abangalo Fondong on Wednesday, April 12, at the Saint Joseph Cathedral in Mamfe.
The Bishop thanked families of the priests for allowing them to join the priesthood.
He hailed the three for courageously accepting to become priests, stating that they will begin experiencing the priesthood from the day of their ordination.
“Today, as God is sending out these men to be messengers of his merciful word, stewards of his holy mysteries and teachers of the truth about God and the sanctity and dignity of the human person. That is your mission,” he told them in a message.
The three priests in Mamfe were among over 30 new priests that were ordained that day into the five Diocese that constitute Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province.
Other priests were ordained into the Dioceses of Buea, Bamenda, Kumbo and Kumba.
The ordinations came nearly two months since the Mamfe Diocese announced the resignation of Rev Dieudonne Akawung, one of its priests who quitted from the fold.
No reason was advanced for his decision.
