The General Manage of Cameroon Development Corporation, Franklin Ngoni Njie, has confirmed gunmen killed five workers and injured 44 others in Tiko during yesterday evening’s attack on banana sector workers.
He said four men and a woman were killed by unknown gunmen, when the workers’ personal carrier was attacked about 5:30pm on Friday February 10th, 2023, on their way from work.
Mr Ngoni Njie said one of the injured workers is in a critical state and has been moved from the Tiko Cottage Hospital, where the other injured workers are being treated, to another hospital.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack, which came amid a lockdown imposed by separatist fighters to frustrate Youth Day celebrations.
