Centre Region: Divisional Officer prohibits consumption of dogs, cats in Ayos
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Divisional Officer of the Ayos Subdivision, Moloka Alain has prohibited the consumption of dogs and cats in the Division.

The information is contained in a release signed by the administrator recently.

According to the latter, “the slaughter, sale, and consumption of meat from domestic dogs and cats,” has been completely banned from the area.

He equally emphasized that everyone who goes against the above-mentioned instruction will be subject to a sanction which will entail the payment of between 50,000 FCFA and 5, 000,000 FCFA.

He concluded by urging other administrative authorities to ensure the smooth implementation of the order.

Many have however questioned the factors which possibly prompted this order by the Ayos Divisional Officer.

The sale of cats and dogs for consumption constitutes a huge business in many parts of Cameroon and serves as a source of livelihood for many.
