Flood resulting from heavy rains has left many homes in Obala, Lekie division of the Centre region. Reports hold that a river in the locality over flew its banks following the intense down poor.
According to sources, it was around 6am that water began rising to the level of the bridge. Some locals said, they last experience a flood in the 1900s.
One of those rendered homeless lamented over her loses, lamenting that “please help me, I have lost everything. I have nowhere to put my head nor that of my children”.
Another inhabitant revealed that he, was able to rescue some three children who were stuck in their homes as a result of the water.
The forces of law and order, alongside administrative authorities later visited the flooded neighbourhoods. The administrative authorities are said to have assured the victims of plans underway to assist them. Some persons of goodwill are said to have stepped in to assist those affected.
