CHAN: Morocco humiliates Intermediate Lions of Cameroon, fans disappointed

Drinking spots in Quartier Bafia, New Bell, Youpwe, and Ngange in Douala 2 municipality have gone silent shortly after the second semi-final match pitting the Atlas Lions of Morocco against the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon.

To Stephane Fonkem, a supporter of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon, “Cameroon lost the match because the Lions have not had enough tactical training to confront Morocco. There is no local professional league in Cameroon for over ten months. Football officials are busy chasing money and no local league. How do you think players can train for a championship like this?” He questions in total frustration.

As the Atlas Lions of Morocco thrashed the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon by four goals to zero, some fans are pointing accusing fingers at the head coach of Cameroon. To them, Martin Ndtougho Mpile, for other reasons apart from football, sidelined good players and took those that were not really qualified.

Speaking on state TV shortly after the March Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021, Geoff Ngwa, a well-known football analyst remarked that Morocco capitalized on errors of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon to pick an easy qualification ticket for the final.

“Cameroon did not have the means and competence to play against Morocco. Cameroonian players committed a lot of errors while playing against a veritable professional team like Morocco,” Joseph Antoine Bell, former goalkeeper of the indomitable Lions of Cameroon stated.

His point of view has been contradicted by Clarence. To the football fan, the players gave in their best but luck was not on their side. He mentions Lions’ brilliant performance against Zimbabwe during the opening match and victory over DR Congo to prove his point.

As the Lions prepare to take on Guinea at the Bepanda Omnisport Reunification Stadium in Douala this Saturday, February 6th for the third position on the classification, Zeinabou Yaha, a fervent supporter of the Lions says the Lions need to double efforts to avoid another humiliation.
