The transfer of the teenager largely went about under the radar.
With the U20 Lions currently at a training camp in Mbankomo in preparation for the upcoming U20 African Cup of Nations in Mauritania, it was deemed appropriate that the services of CHAN Squad player, Marc Atangana would be better utilized at the U20 selection rather than the ongoing CHAN where he has very limited chances of participation.
Having not featured in any of the three group games during the ongoing CHAN2020, he was called up by the U20 coach and he left the Intermediate Lions squad as the team took off for Douala, where they will be facing the Democratic Republic of Congo in a quarter final match at the Japoma Stadium.
He will now be training at Mbankomo away from the CHAN squad in anticipation for the U20 AFCON in Mauritania, but however, they will still have to jet off to Morocco where they are expected to take part in a mini tournament that will serve as an avenue to assess the level of preparedness for some of the participating teams.
In the Upcoming tournament, the U20 Lions have been paired in group A and will feature the likes Mauritania (Hosts), Mozambique and Uganda.
They will play their opening match on February against Mauritania.
