Honored Yossi has confirmed that 17 people have been injured after a bus of Chantal Biya International Cycling tour was involved in an accident today.
The incident resulted to the disruption of the competition which started over 48hours ago.
In a release following the incident, The president of the fecacyclisme wrote:
“The President of the Cameroon Cycling Federation and President of the Central Organizing Committee of the 18 th edition of the Grand Prix International Cyclist Chantal Biya informs the public that a traffic accident occurred on September 29, 2018 in the vicinity from 10:30 to the place called “Memiam” on the axis Mbalmayo- Zoetele (Ngolbang.
A “Coaster” type bus carrying riders from the teams of Rwanda, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast made a road exit in a bend and overturned. , making 17 victims immediately rushed by caravan ambulances to the Mbalmayo District Hospital where they were cared for by a team of doctors and nurses.
In the balance, according to the doctors who carried out the radiology on the victims, there are 15 runners, one (01) race commissioner and one (01) driver who were victims.
1- No deaths have been recorded
2- The days of the victims are not in danger.
3 – Victims suffer minor injuries.
4- The radiologies performed on the victims have no gravity.
5- The Rwandan and Burkinabe teams left the hospital and returned to Yaounde for observation.
6- The Ivorian team has decided to continue the competition.
7- The race commissioner Damien Tekou victim in this accident remains under medical observation. His days are not in danger.
8 – The competition continues for the other runners, including the yellow jersey.
