Gender promoter and award winning journalist, Commy Mussa, has reacted to a viral video of students at Sacred Heart College Mankon, Bamenda. The video showed students in their dormitory dancing in front of a gun-toting soldier.
Commy writes:
“High priority: Every school needs a child protection policy and anyone in contact with children at these schools needs to take an engagement to commit to the policy. Organisations, churches etc. that work with children need CP policies too.
“The disgusting viral video allegedly from Sacred Heart College is proof that child protection policy is badly needed in schools across Cameroon.
“What is a soldier with a gun doing inside a dormitory, watching/filming & being entertained by little boys dancing to an 18+ rated song? What has the school/church said about this?
“Dear parents – Tomorrow when you drop ( Dr those whose kids are in school) your kids off at school, please take 5 minutes to ask the school authorities if they have a child protection policy.
“We cannot afford to be passive about such things. Not on our watch!”
UPDATE
The government later sanctioned the soldier who filmed the awful video.
