Civilians Cry Foul As Soldiers Battle Amba boys In Bambili;

Bambili in Tubah subdivision in Mezam Division has been a theatre for the show of firepower between pro independence fighters and soldiers.

The brutal assassination of Prof. Paul Mbufong, Administrative Affairs Director at the University of Bamenda remains a painful moment in the minds of locals.

Yesterday, a shootout was reported between soldiers and Amba boys.

Some locals are said to have been molested by security forces as they crackdown on separatist fighters.

Even as renewed shootings hold Bambili hostage this morning, a local recounts the painful moments of yesterday. He writes:

“It’s terrible in Bambili. During the shootings yesterday Monday, I was pulled out from my house by the army and forced at gun point to tell them who was shooting beside my cite (home), whereas I have been on the floor since the shootings started. I was flogged but God saved my life. Thanks to one of the soldiers, I would have been wasted. And that’s because I expressed myself in French and told them, I was a student at ENSET Bambili.”

Bambili is still in turmoil, with many students expressing worries over effective school resumption.
“We cannot step out of our hostels…it is chaotic here…i doubt if we can attend classes in this atmosphere…” a student in Bambili wrote.
