Constitutional Council Rules On 18 Electoral Litigations Today

The hearing on the 18 post-electoral petitions will begin today, October 16, 2018 at the Constitutional Council, starting, 11:00 am.

Amongst the post electoral litigations from disgruntled parties, are call for a partial or complete annulment of the election from the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, the Social Democratic Front and UNIVERS parties.

The CRM party, who wants partial cancellation of the election, is decrying massive electoral fraud in the Far North, North West and South West Regions.

The SDF and Univers parties, have petitioned for a complete cancellation
of the elections.

Section 132 (2) of the Electoral Code states that” The Constitutional Council shall rule on all petitions filed by any candidate, any political party which took part in the election or any person serving as a representative of the administration for the election, requesting the trial or partial cancellation of the election operations”

The Constitutional Council has till October 22nd to proclaim final results of the October 7th presidential election in Cameroon.
