Controversy over death of Amba ‘General’, ‘Man Pass Man’

One of Cameroon’s on-the-ground separatist fighters, Johnson has been killed. Popularly known as General Man Pass Man, he is notorious for his part played in the death of two separatist fighters who killed a Prince in Babessi, North West region.

Originally believed to have committed suicide, new details are beginning to emerge about the death of General Man Pass Man.

“According to a story narrated by one of his fighters, he went to set a trap for the military with a heavy weapon and the weapon exploded and got him” a source recounts.

“I strongly believe that his death is just a cover story that he killed himself. One of those boys took him out independently or with order from their leaders above” he adds.

Prior to Man Pass Man’s death, he is said to have given all Babessi people six months within which they were not permitted to return to the village.

His death has caused a lot of uncertainty in the ranks of his followers, as there is no clear successor. To many, it has come as a relief due to the conditions under which they lived during his time.
