Christopher Eyong, second year student at the department of journalism and mass communication at the University of Buea stands the risk of not writing the end of year examination that starts on the 27th of July 2020. The young Cameroonain has been stranded in India since the 24th of March 2020.

In a video message, the 18-year-old says “I traveled to India on the 28th of February 2020 to return on the 24th of March. I went there with my father for treatment. With the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, Cameroon closed her borders. The health situation of my father deteriorated until his death on the 27th of June here in India.”

He explains how he has run out of funds for his up keep and therefore needs immediate help from the government of Cameroon: “I am pleading with the government to help us with a special plane to transport us back to Cameroon. I need to return to mourn my father and equally continue my studies”

“We are more than one hundred and nineteen Cameroonians here stranded. We can no longer feed or house ourselves” he pleads

Cameroonians in India lament that the government of Cameroon has given a deaf ear to their several pleas for evacuation since the beginning of coronavirus pandemic.

Note that the government of Cameroon has in the course of the pandemic ensured the return of Cameroonians in some African and European countries.
