Reports say Atingi Gideon, history teacher in Njombe was shot by gunmen in Ikata, Muyuka Subdivision of
the South West region.
“[He] was shot on Saturday by separatist fighters who termed him a black leg,” a source narrates.
Gideon, who was also said to be quarter head of Quarter 4 in Ikata and Chief of the Ngie Community, has been laid to rest.
Our source adds that “… the remains were buried immediately after because of the state of the body.”
“Please let us denounce this cause,” he urges, adding that “… it is very hurting especially for some us who can’t bear the pain and have sought refuge somewhere. We are termed black legs.”
Gideon is one of thousands of victims of the four-year long war in Cameroon’s Anglophone Crisis.
Despite the deaths and gross human rights violations being committed, government and separatists remain at loggerheads over a way forward.
