The Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), party has launched a concerted effort to maximise voter registration before the deadline. The party teamed up with ELECAM on Friday, August 16, 2024, to facilitate a major registration drive in Bokwango-Buea. This initiative is part of a final push to ensure that as many Cameroonians as possible are enrolled before the registration period concludes on August 31st.

The registration drive, marked by a significant turnout, was supported by CRM Fako and led by divisional secretary Emmanuel Kenmogne. Kenmogne stressed the importance of this last-minute effort, stating, “Today’s activities are vital in making sure that every eligible voter is registered and ready to participate in the upcoming elections.”

This push follows a national call to action earlier in the year from CRM’s national chairman, Prof. Maurice Kamto. Kamto’s call inspired similar registration efforts across several regions, including Bongo Square in Buea, Limbe I, Limbe II, Limbe III, Tiko, and Ideneau. These initiatives aimed to increase voter turnout and engagement in the electoral process.

The drive in Bokwango-Buea also received renewed momentum from CRM’s Secretary General, Chief Bar. Ndong Christopher. In his remarks, Ndong Christopher commended previous registration successes and urged local party leaders to ensure a strong finish to the registration period. “Our goal is to wrap up this registration season with a flourish, ensuring that every potential voter is registered,” he asserted.

Mr. Tambe Walters highlighted the day’s successes, noting that the enthusiasm and participation levels demonstrated the community’s commitment to shaping the future through their votes. “The strong turnout today reflects a growing determination among citizens to exercise their democratic rights,” Walters observed.

With the registration deadline fast approaching, the CRM and ELECAM’s efforts in Bokwango-Buea underscore a broader national commitment to enhancing electoral participation. As the final days of the registration period unfold, these initiatives are crucial in ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive voter roll for the upcoming elections.
