Authorities have urged Buea residents to step up their hygienic practices. This is after at least three persons were reported to have died from Cholera in the South West Region of Cameroon. Reports say the hardest hit area is Mile 16, in Buea where at least 17 cases were detected.


At least 150 elephants invaded Guissia village, in Danay Mayo, Far North Region. The animals are said to have destroyed several crops along their path, destroyed homes, and forced natives out of their village. Locals have remained helpless in the face of the attack, and have indicated that it has raised the possibility of food scarcity.


Separatist fighters today killed at least three soldiers in Kumbo, Bui Division. This was at the Kumbo Water Tank in Bamkika’ai where they carried out an attack early today morning. Amateur video on social media showed the separatist fighters celebrating at the water tank.


Vocational Training Minister, Issa Tchiroma Bakary has urged students to seek better fields of study. Minister Tchiroma in a recent interview said those who study plain subjects are less likely to get suitable work after studies. Many have however pointed out that the current system exists thanks to the regime he is part of and has served for many years.


Youths in Buea, South West Region continue to decry police brutality and extortion. Security forces deployed to the town and neighbouring Limbe for the Africa Cup of Nations, they noted, continue to exploit them. Some of these officers they say, go as far as conducting unauthorised phone and house searches.

The family of late artist, Aponglen Lesly aka Fhish has urged the public to continue steaming and buying his works. They have also announced the release of his last album. The album would be released in the weeks head.


Burkina Faso tomorrow faces Senegal in the first semifinal game of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021. Both sides would be seeking a spot in the finals to face either team Cameroon or Egypt.


FECAFOOT President, Samuel Eto’o today paid a visit to victims of the Olembé Football Stadium stampede. He brought them some gifts and also wished them a speedy recovery. At least 8 persons were confirmed dead from the tragedy which happened on January 24, 2022.
