A soldier has been killed and beheaded following a attack by separatist fighters on a school in Bamenyam, West region. Several other soldiers are feared to have sustained injuries in the attack. Reports hold that, the Amba fighters met a resistance from security forces while trying to attack the school. An unspecified number of Amba fighters are also said to have been injured in the crossfire with the military.



An initiative to provide meals for 2485 school kids in Mandjou, Lom and Djerem division of the East region was launched today. The World Food Programme initiative sponsored by the German government targets among others, refugees from the Central African Republic.

Samuel Eto’o, President of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, has denied claims of doctored COVID-19 test results at the ongoing TotalEnergies, Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON. The football legend today noted that contrary to rumours on social media, the tests are coordinated by the Confederation of African Football, CAF and are void of any manipulations.


The death toll of the stampede at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon has risen from six to eight persons. CAF has ordered for an investigation to uncover the facts behind the incident.


At least one person has died and another injured after an accident Sunday January 23 in which a drunk driver hit them. The incident happened in Akwa-Douala, Littoral Region. The driver of the car was arrested moments after the incident. The injured victim is currently receiving treatment at the Laquintini Hospital.

Former Indomitable Lions player, Eric Njemba Njemba has said the Stampede at the Olembe Stadium Yaoundé is the worst thing that could happen to Cameroon. He expressed his regret in an interview with the BBC during which he also extended his condolences to the bereaved families.


The President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe has announced the temporal suspension of games at the Olembe Stadium. ThE decision follows the stampede at the facility which left eight persons dead. Games at the stadium will be moved to the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.
