Minister Paul Tasong was today put on a hot seat at the National Assembly. A record 57 MPs each took turns to comment on the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West, South West, and Far North Regions. This was at a special plenary session at the ongoing November sitting of Parliament. Critics have long highlighted that such plans for reconstruction are premature, given that there is still ongoing conflict in the Regions.
Hundreds were stranded along Mamfe and Ekok roads as they sought to get to neighbouring Nigeria today. Sources say the forces of law and order blocked the roads without any explanation, like they did with the Kumba-Mamfe road last week.
Final preparations are underway for the Festival of Heritage, Arts and Culture, FEHACU hosted by the Bamenda III Council in the North West Region. The festival set to kick off on November 26 will be under the auspices of His Majesty, Fon Azehfor III of Nkwen.
Residents of the Bwiteva community in Buea, South West Region have complaint of poor electricity supply in their community. The residents have written a letter of complaint to authorities, telling them the low voltage has destroyed several appliances in their homes. Their request is yet to be answered.
The Minister of Secondary Education, Dr. Nalova Lyonga has revealed that more than 200 secondary schools in Cameroon are operating without toilets. She has urged authorities in all secondary schools to take appropriate measures in ensuring the availability of the facilities, even though she didn’t say how her ministry intends to enforce this.
The Senior Divisional Officer of Moulvoudayé, in the Far North Region has accused a teacher and have him locked up for sexually molesting his son. Colleagues of the teacher have denied this and said the teacher is being accused because he punished the SDO’s child for failing to do an assignment.
The Confederation of African Football has launched the official match ball that will be used during the upcoming AFCON tournament in Cameroon. The match ball has been named “Toghu” after the famous regalia worn across the Grass field Regions in Cameroon.
