The Minister of defense, Joseph Betti Assomo, has confirmed a paradigm shift in the use of weapons and operation by the military in combating seperatist fighters in the North West region. He made the statement today in Bamenda after an impromptu visit to the region following the killing of 15 soldiers last week in Ndop. He has not revealed what the new paradigm or the new operation modalities are.

A 19-seater bus driver plying the Bamenda-Babadjou stretch is feared death. He was shot by unidentified gunmen. The driver was pulled out of his car late Tuesday and shot at for not respecting the lockdown dubbed ‘Gutteres lockdown’.called by a faction of separatists. Speculations are that he was killed by separatist fighters attempting to enforce the lockdown.

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have called on the Cameroon government to release all political prisoners. The call comes exactly one year after CRM militants were arrested on September 22, 2020, for staging a nationwide protest against the government.

Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute was on his second day of a working visit to the South West Region. His mission to the region is to preach the efficacies of the Major National Dialogue in resolving the Anglophone crisis. He is said to have handed some journalists a FCFA 5 million envelop. Critics say this is a way of ‘buying’ the press.

A gang of 15 drug traffickers have been presented before the press in Douala. The group which includes a girl was specialised in the trafficking of cocaine and marijuana.

Cameroon’s football legend, Samuel Eto’o, has officially announced his candidacy to run for president of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT. He made the announcement on his Social Media accounts yesterday.
