The management of the Daniel Muna Memorial Clinic has issued a formal response to recent reports raising concerns about clinical care at the facility and questions surrounding the professional history of one of its medical practitioners.
In a statement transmitted to MMI News through its legal representatives, the clinic rejected allegations of negligence linked to the delivery of twins at the facility, insisting that appropriate medical protocols were followed.
The clinic stated that reports suggesting premature discharge or substandard care “mischaracterized the management of a footling breech presentation,” adding that its medical team followed “rigorous clinical protocols, resulting in the safe delivery and discharge of a mother and her healthy twins.”
It further said the omission of what it described as a successful outcome amounted to “a deliberate attempt to cause unnecessary public alarm.”
According to the clinic, both the mother and her twins “remain under the ongoing care of the clinic’s medical team, reflecting her continued confidence in our services.”
Clinic addresses concerns over medical licensure
On the issue of the professional history of Dr. Frederick Tabi Okie, the clinic acknowledged that concerns had been raised regarding his prior licensure status in the United States.
The statement said the clinic had “been made aware of allegations concerning the prior licensure status of Dr. Frederick Tabi Okie in the United States.”
It noted that Dr. Okie is “currently a registered member of the National Medical Council of Cameroon since 1991,” and outlined steps taken in response to the concerns.
According to the clinic, these steps include having “launched an internal inquiry,” and having “formally seized the National Medical Council to request a definitive ruling on his status.”
The clinic also said it had taken “proactive administrative measures to ensure that patient care remains uncompromised during this review.”

Reaffirming its position, the clinic said it maintains “a zero-tolerance policy regarding ethical misconduct,” and stressed its long-standing role in the health sector.
“For over 50 years, the Daniel Muna Memorial Clinic PLC has served the national and regional community with integrity and excellence,” the statement reads, adding that the institution is “committed to transparency and will take all necessary legal and administrative actions to preserve the trust our patients place in us.”
