Decomposing Corpse Discovered at Nouvelle Route Cité, Douala

It was a black Sunday for the inhabitants of Nouvelle Route Cité, a quarter in the BP Cité neighborhood in Douala, Cameroon’s economic capital. A lady by name Njoum Marie Noelle, aged 31 years old, was discovered dead in her little room were she was renting.

According to one of the neighbor’s, the last time they saw Marie Noelle was last Thursday after a general blackout in the quarter.

The neighbor added that, “Marie Noëlle even made fun with them before going to bed that faithful Thursday night, looking healthy.”

Little did they know it was their last day of seeing her. Four days later, without any sign of Marie Noëlle whom every one in the hostel knew as a “struggler”, a pungent smell from her room forced her nearest neighbour to spy via the window only to discover the lifeless body of Marie Noëlle on the floor with her door closed from inside.

The intervention of the elements from the Army Rescue Unit enabled the decomposing body to be removed from the room and taken to the morgue of the Deido District Hospital.

Family members who are still to come to terms with the death of their daughter say she wasn’t having any health issues.

Gendarmes at the Ndogbat Research Unit have opened investigation to get the actual cause of the death of Njoum Marie Noëlle.
