Authorities in Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division have pledged to create room for internally displaced learners as the 2020/2021 academic year resumes.
After his tour yesterday, Simon Nkwenti, SDO for the Division noted that a good number of IDP learners turned up at schools eager to learn.
“… We are negotiating with some of the neighborhoods of the schools to see if we can convert some of the residences into classrooms to permit these children begin school while we see how far we can accommodate them” he told the CRTV.
Some of these IDPs, he explained are from neighbouring areas which are yet to witness as much calm as Nkambe and Donga Mantung as a whole.
Despite being a ghost town day, Nkambe recorded some of the largest numbers for yesterday’s school resumption in the North West and South West Regions.
Learners also turned up for classes in Bamenda, Buea and Limbe. It is hoped that other parts of the regions will follow suite in the days ahead.
