Douala: 64-year-old man dies after being denied access into son’s house by daughter-in-law

A 64-year-old man has died after being denied access to his son’s house by his daughter-in-law in Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon, according to an article by Cameroon Tribune, the country’s national daily.

The incident took place last weekend in Bonamoussadi, in the absence of the deceased’s son.

According to reports, the 64-year-old man had presented worrying health issues after which he was advised by his son to come over.

The old man was however delayed as he failed to find a vehicle to transport him to the economic capital to meet his son.

Faced with the situation, the children tried to reach their uncle without success, Cameroun Tribune added.

During the night, the 64-year-old man is believed to have had a malaise. The nephew testified that he was heard knocking the door, but Marie-jocelyne, the daughter-in-law still maintained her stand not to let him in.

“On Sunday around 9:00 a.m., the household woke up. One of the nephews opened the door and discovered his grandfather lying in the yard, towards the gate.”

The old man was still breathing but his breath but hoarse, and he died shortly after.

Once informed of the news, the son of the deceased immediately called his wife asking her to evacuate his home, never to return, an order which she followed without hesitation.
