Detainees of the Anglophone Crisis at the Douala Central Prison in the Littoral region of Cameroon have defeated military inmates in a friendly football encounter.

This game took place on Monday, November 14, 2022, following a football competition organised by inmates with resources from visitors.

The Anglophone detainees reportedly thrashed military detainees three goals to two, emerging winners.

“……………there is a football tournament going on currently. Today the detainees of the Anglophone Crisis played with the detained military,” one of the inmates told MMI on the basis of anonymity.

“At the end of the match, the boys won the match 3 goals to 2,” he added, referring to those in detention as a result of the deepening conflict in the English-speaking regions of the country.

With no cameras allowed, the match according to the inmate held, thanks to resources gotten from goodwill visitors.

“It was organised with money gotten from some visitors,” the inmate revealed.

The main aim of the football encounter has not been disclosed.

However, it is not unconnected to strengthening the bond between people who ones bloodily fought each other and later found themselves in a different world under thesame conditions.
