Douala: Student ingests poison after ‘misplacing’ tuition fee

A student by name Marco from Douala, economic capital of Cameroon, consumed a poisonous substance and died after losing the sum of 550,000 CFA meant for his tuition.

The incident took place precisely in the Ndogpassi neighborhood, in the afternoon of September 29, 2022.

According to reports, the act was a result of pressure from the parents after the student unveiled the sad news. They insisted that Marco returns the money within three days.

Marco had earlier received the sum of 550,000 FCFA from his father for his university education.

However, driven by the pressure imposed on him by his father, the latter resorted to terminating his life by consuming rat poison.
