Dr. Munjah Vitalis Elected BADO President, knighted Bah Gwan Waahyeb

Dr. Munjah Vitalis Fagha, Lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Comparative Politics of the University of Buea’s Faculty of Laws and Political Science, has been elected President General of the Balikumbat Development Organization (BADO).

He was elected Saturday, November 30, 2024, during the BADO Elective General Assembly in Bafoussam.

Dr. Munjah’s list won 119 votes of the 129 super delegates from all the zones of BADO.

He will be at the helm of the self-reliant village development organization for a five-year term and will be eligible to seek re-election.

During the event, the expert in Comparative Politics was also decorated Bah Gwan Waahyeb by the Fon of Balikumbat, HRM Fon Doh Gah Nyamnyin III.

Present were three other Chamba Fons – HRM Fon Doh Gah Wolubi II, HRM Fon Doh Gah Nyam II and HRM Fon Doh Gansin II.

“Gwan Waahyeb” means someone who unites the children of the village – pivot of unity and mobilisation for village development.

Bah Gwan Waahyeb Dr. Munjah Vitalis Fagha was knighted for his selfless role in transforming the Balikumbat Development Organization (BADO) and putting the South West chapter in the limelight.

He is expected to put his years of experience at the service of BADO National at a time when steps are far advanced to ensure peace in Balikumbat.

The 2024 BADO General Assembly held under the theme: “Revitalizing and Valorizing BADO: Ensuring Community Development Through Innovation and Inclusion”.

The theme focuses on harnessing innovation and inclusivity to breathe new life into the Balikumbat Development Organization, creating a more dynamic, sustainable, and equitable pathway for community development.

With this theme, the Dr. Munjah Vitalis-led executive seeks to inculcate the responsibility of cooperating for the common good of all in all sons and daughters of Balikumbat origin wherever they are around the globe.

The Balikumbat Development Organization is an umbrella self-reliant village development organization with the goal of promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of Balikumbat village and to cater for her general interest and welfare.

BADO was created in 1988 and established its certificate of existence on August 2, 1999.

It was created to galvanize indigenous resource and build social and human capital in order to complement the efforts of government in promoting development in Balikumbat village.

Dr. Munjah Vitalis says he will further the vision of BADO, which ranges from promoting peace, unity and development in the village and to arouse a keen sense of patriotism among the Balikumbat people, promote cultural, economic and social development endeavours in Balikumbat to serving as a forum for discussing matters affecting the welfare and development of the village.

His term, he says, will be marked by the encouragement of the smooth functioning of traditional and public administration in the village.
