Drama at ‘Hotel Sawa’ In Douala -False Alarm Sets Panic As Ekema Patrick is Dragged to Safety

Misunderstanding between security forces is said to have been the crux of the drama at the Sawa Hotel this Monday September 24, 2018.

According to authoritative sources, soldiers guarding the Mayor of Buea, Ekema Patrick Esunge, are said to have raised security alarm over suspected gunmen who were later discovered to be high ranking security operatives.

As the story goes, Mayor Ekema’s security detected some armed men in plain clothes. Suspecting that they could be security threats, they decided to fire some shots in the air to call for backup.

Concurrently, they decided to put the Mayor unto a safety edge by placing him on the floor. Meanwhile, the gunshots, coupled with distress calls from security communications, attracted the attention of a contingent of military officers who besieged the hotel premises.

The hotel was quickly put on surveillance while movements in an out were temporarily halted. A thorough search was carried in the entire hotel premises to make sure no further threat was posed.

Meanwhile, all plain clothes military were taken into custody for questioning.

The Governor of the Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonne Ivan’s Diboua, in a press release, indicated that no threats were found in the hotel. He called on the population to resume their normal activities.
