East Region:
Four From Same Family Die of Alleged Food Poisoning

Four children from the same family have died in Batouri, Kadey Division of the East Region after allegedly consuming poisoned food. This incident is believed to have happened on March 11, 2022, according to The Guardian Post Newspaper.


These victims viz; Sam Yandia, 11; Samjegpe Ambroise, 9; Yerima Espoire Romain, 6; and Jacque, 3 are said to have died after eating food believed to have been prepared by their father.

According to sources close to the family, the food had been mixed with rat poison at the time they ate it. The children were said to be alone at home when they ate the food. Neighbors say they did not realize what had happened until the children started wailing.


“When we asked to know what was going on, they said they had eaten food kept by their father…” Neighbors recounted.
“…after consuming the food,” the same source added, “the four children began to writhe in pain, crying and complaining of excruciating stomach ache. Moments later, white substance started oozing out of their mouths.”


Further information says the father had confessed that the food was meant to poison rats and not fthe children to eat. The children were confirmed dead after being transported to a Catholic hospital in Batouri.
