The municipal councillor of Progressive Movement (MP) party for Douala 1, Hilaire Zipang has declared on a Sunday debate program <<Droit de Reponse>> on Equinoxe Television that the president of MP, Jean Jacque Ekindi decided to declare for Paul Biya on a personal note.
The fire brand opposition councillor said Ekindi’s decision had nothing to do what the party.
Hilaire Zipang told his co-panelist that the MP party is still battling with other presidential candidates of the opposition to come up with a consensual candidate to put an end to Paul Biya’s 36year leadership at the helm of the presidency in Cameroon.
The outing of Hilaire Zipang is clear indication that the decision of Jean Jacque Ekindi to support Biya candidacy was not unanimous.
Jean Jacque Ekindi who has spent decades criticising the Biya regime suddenly announced Thursday that Paul Biya is the ideal candidate amongst the 9 presidential hopefuls.
The President of MP was for over 26years referred to as ” the Hunter of the Lion” before his transformation on 20 September 2018 into “Friend of the Lion”.
Another critic of the regime and former SDF supporter Albert Elimbi Lobe has called on Cameroon not to vote for any opposition candidate.
Elimbi Lobe who neither expressed support for Biya said the opposition candidates have to be punished for refusing to form a coalition.
