The tension between East African States, Ethiopia and Eritrea may soon be over.
This is following discussions between leaders of both nations.
After discussing with Eritrean president, Isaias Afwerki, Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed said they had reached a consensus.
According to Abiy Ahmed Eritrea will withdraw its forces from the border with Ethiopia.
“… The government of Eritrea has agreed to withdraw its forces out of the Ethiopian border” the politician is quoted as saying.
Eritrea is yet to make any official statement.
Since November last year, Ethiopia’s Tigray region has been the source of conflict between the Tigray People’s Liberation Front and the Ethiopian National Defense Forces.
The Eritrean Defense Forces are reported to have also been driven into the conflict, giving the Ethiopian government a hard time regulating the region.
