The before now adviser of Cameroon’s President Paul Biya, Christian Penda Ekoka has said the 2020 twin elections will only be beneficial to a handful of selfish individuals.

Penda Ekoka has taken on twitter, stating why holding municipal and legislative elections in Cameroon is impossible.

“To go to the twin elections is to perpetuate a system that only generates misery and poverty, while benefiting a handful of selfish individuals.
We must reclaim the POWER over our lives and ACT by BOYCOTTING these elections,” Penda Ekoka says.

The founder of Act now, a civil society movement for change says bad election laws make it difficult for voter’s will to be reflected after polls.
He says poor governance is one of the causes of the Anglophone crisis.

“Cameroon has witnessed a dramatic regression for 4 decades, mainly because of a biased electoral system. It doesn’t allow Cameroonians to freely choose competent and legitimate leaders to be accountable to voters on their performance. This largely explains the Anglophone crisis,” he adds.

“We must reclaim the power over our lives and act by boycotting these elections,” Penda Ekoka says.

Christian Penda Ekoka was jailed for nine months alongside Prof. Maurice Kamto for contesting results of the 2018 presidential election in Cameroon.

He declared for the Cameroon Renaissance Movement leader during the election. His outing today comes after Kamto announce boycott of the February 2020 municipal and legislative elections in Cameroon.
