A man by the name of Yves Ndongo has been arrested by gendarmes for impersonating a military colonel.
Yves Ndongo was reportedly apprehended at Libamba a village in Makak, Centre Region, during a burial ceremony.
According to reports, he had accompanied the widow to the village for the interment of her late husband.
Yves reportedly made use of a military uniform which he confessed to having bought from a Yaounde-based military official, to create smooth passage across the different control posts.
It is reported that the fake colonel was identified by a real colonel, present at the burial ceremony who resorted to taking the former to the Makak gendarmerie for questioning.
Once at the Brigate, the Yves Ndongo admitted to having carried out similar acts for the past 10 months.
He further revealed that “the widow, whose husband they traveled to bury, is my lover and at the same time partner in the crime.”
The fake colonel has been put behind bars at the Makak gendarmerie where he awaits trial.
