A Cameroonian family is desperately seeking information about their sister, Kwachu Claire, who has been missing for over two years. Claire, who travelled to Belgium more than 23 years ago, maintained regular communication with her family until 2021. Since then, all attempts to contact her have been unsuccessful.
“We were in communication, but since 2021 we haven’t heard from her,” her sister told MMI.
The family has also tried reaching out to Michiel Van Hoey, the man she lives with and the father of her two children. Initially, he assured them that Claire was fine, but he has since stopped responding to their messages. Recently, his contact information is no longer active.
“We tried contacting the white man in whom they have two kids, but he wasn’t responding, and his contact doesn’t longer go through,” Claire’s sister said.
MMI has, however, been able to successfully send emails and WhatsApp communications to Michiel’s contacts retrieved from his social media accounts.
No Trace of Claire
MMI has searched through Michiel Van Hoey’s social media and found images of the two children, but no images of Claire. Claire is also not on his friends list, and her Facebook account has only 10 friends. Also all her posts have either been deleted or not publicly available. This has raised further concerns about her well-being.
The messages to Michiel both by email and WhatsApp have been successfully delivered, but he has refused to respond.
Appeal for Information
Claire’s family is appealing to the public for any information that could help locate her. They have provided her Facebook name, Kwachu Claire, and are willing to share Michiel Van Hoey’s Facebook page in hopes that someone might recognise them.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the family at the following numbers:(237) 653979211, 680143835.
The family remains hopeful that with the public’s help, they will be reconnected with Claire soon.
