Family seeks justice for Cameroonian businessman unjustly lynched in Ghana

The Family of Akroman Betro Stephane, a 44-year-old Cameroonian businessman is seeking justice after the unjust lynching of the man.

The Ghana-based Cameroonian reportedly lost his life some weeks back after he was falsely accused of robbery and kidnap alongside his 29-year-old brother-in-law.

“The two are said to have allegedly snatched a car and kidnapped two children. Other reports suggested that the two only stole a phone. According to eyewitnesses, the foreign nationals were chased from Adabraka near Pankrono. Luck eluded them at Ahwiaa in the Kwabre East Municipality where they were victims of a mob attack, ” reported Ghana Web.

However, Investigations carried out by security forces revealed that the two Cameroonians were innocent of all allegations. “As earlier reports suggested, they neither snatched a car, kidnapped children nor stole a mobile phone, ” added Ghana Web.

According to the wife of the deceased, her husband, who happened to be one of the leaders of the Cameroonian community in Ghana, left for Kumasi for a meeting organized by Cameroon nationals in Ghana when the tragic incident occurred.

“I immediately called my husband but one guy picked up the call and told me that he seized my husband’s phone because my husband was nabbed as a thief,” she lamented, adding that “when I inquired about my husband’s whereabouts, he hung up on me. My husband is not a thief, he is a businessman and the car they claimed he stole is his own car. I’m disappointed in Ghana people.”

While his brother-in-law survived the attack, the 44-year-old passed away after being rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

The Family of the businessman has therefore appealed to the police and the immigration officers to take charge of the matter, so justice can be made.
