Far North: 50-year-old man drowns to death in Logone River

A 50-year-old man died after drowning in the Logone River in Kousseri, a town in the Far North Region of Cameroon.

Reports say the man whose identify has not been revealed drowned in the night of Wednesday, March 8, at about 10pm,

His body was retrieved at about 6am on March 9 by swimmers from the River Rescue Center.

“We were alerted about a man aged around 50, swept away by the waters of the Logone at about 10pm,” the River Rescue Centre announced in a press release.

“Rescue swimmers from the River Rescue Center extracted the lifeless body from the waters a few moments after their engagement,” furthered the press release.

While the identity of the victim is yet to be revealed, sources say he is a man a resident of Kousseri.

The police took the remains of the victim to the Kousseri hospital mortuary pending burial.
