Far North Region: 7 die in ‘punitive’ Boko Haram attack

Boko Haram terrorists have killed at least 7 Cameroonians in Assighiassa, Mayo Tsanaga Division, Far North Region of Cameroon.

The attack carried out last week by the deadly terrorist group has now been revealed to be a means of retaliation from the group.

Media reports say that the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR unit had in the previous weeks carried out attacks in the Boko Haram camp in Kerawa on October 1, 2021.

The attacks led to several deaths amongst the terrorists’ ranks, causing them to retaliate. In their attack of Assighiassa, the terrorists also robbed three shops and looted several goods.

The area which was attacked by the Boko Haram terrorists is believed to have been deserted weeks ago by most of the locals.

There are also claims the presence of security forces in the area has greatly depleted, leaving the area prone to violent attacks from terrorists.
