Where has Cavaye Yeguie Djibril gone?
This is the question asked by many who have been closely following campaigns ahead of the February 9, 2020 twin elections in the Far North region, particularly in the Mayo Sava Division.
Since the launch of campaigns on January 25,2020, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril head of the CPDM campaign team in the Mayo Sava Division, has neither been seen at the CPDM regional campaign launch in Maroua, nor the divisional launch in Mora.
Most surprising to some observers was his absence at the CPDM subdivisional campaign launch in Tokombere, his home town and constituency that has kept him at the National Assembly for over 30 years today.
House Speaker for 28 years and MP for Tokombere for over 30 years, Cavaye Yeguie chose to be absent from all CPDM campaign activities this 2020 for unknown reasons.
According to L’OEIL DU SAHEL newspaper, close sources to the octagenerian house Speaker say his financial contributions to the CPDM party campaign this year have drastically dropped compared to previous years, notably 2013.
Citing the close sources, the paper says Cavaye Yeguie Djibril contributed just 5million francs cfa, largely insufficient compared to a huge chunk he made in 2013, permitting Mayo Sava to collect a total of 47 million francs cfa.
His low financial contributions this year has seen Mayo sava Division with just 19 million francs as campaign budget, close CPDM sources in Mayo Sava indicate.
Unconfirmed sources talk of a squabble between Cavaye Yeguie Djibril and CPDM party officials at the National level, and his subdivision of origin.
Reports from the Far North say Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has remained indoors at his traditional palace in Mada for over two weeks, while his director of cabinet, Boukar Abduraman has been campaigning for him in the mountainous villages of Mayo Sava.
Cavaye Yeguie Djibril 80-year-old, has been speaker of cameroons national assembly for 28 years.
