Samuel Eto’o Fils was declared winner of last Saturday’s FECAFOOT Elections at the Mont Febe Hotel. Cameroonians meanwhile have been keeping a close watch on Abdurahman Baba, the controversial President of the Etoile Filant Football Club of Garoua for his reactions.
In the past, Abdurahman Baba has been known for his successful numerous appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sports. Speculations after Eto’o’s elections were high, with many predicting that Abdurahman had indeed prepared his appeal to be tabled before the CAS to annul the election that saw Eto’o voted at the helm of the Cameroon FA.
However, Abdurahman Baba has put all speculations to bed after he revealed on his Facebook page that the appeal to annul the elections had already been tabled even before the election was conducted.
According to him, the only thing left now is the verdict that will be made by the Court of Arbitration for Sports. Many Cameroonians fear that should his appeal be successful, then the election that saw Eto’o voted to office will be annulled by the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
It should also be recalled that Abdurahman also tabled the appeal that saw the cancellation of the 2019 FECAFOOT election in which Seidou Mbombo Njoya was voted FECAFOOT president.
The decision to annul the FECAFOOT local and federal elections was predicated on the argument that electoral rules were in violation of a national law that regulates sports activities in Cameroon, as well as an article in FECAFOOT’s own statutes.
