Samuel Eto’o Fils’ former teammate, and ex-captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Stephan Mbia has defended FECAFOOT President, [Eto’o] from critics, and backed his efforts to return Cameroon’s football to the top.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Afrik Inform, he mentioned that “Samuel Eto’o is doing his possible best to improve the level of football in Cameroon.”
He also admitted that “it is difficult to judge his management style (like other ex-players do) given that he is trying his possible best for things to move ahead despite the adversities he has faced.”
For things to return to how they used to be, Stephan Mbia also agreed that they must pass through adversities. “…it would be amazing if he can get Cameroon’s football to where it was before.” He wished.
Stephan Mbia played with Samuel Eto’o Fils for the Indomitable Lions between 2006-2016. He also captained the Indomitable Lions to the African cup of nations (AFCON 2015) in Equatorial Guinea, where Cameroon never made it out of the group stage.
He also had successful stints in European clubs like Olympic de Marseille, and Sevilla FC in spain where he won 2 Europa League titles.
