The Douala I Municipal authorities in the Littoral Region have moved a step ahead in trying to limit the number of road accidents within the town.
An awareness campaign launched today, and to run through to February 28, aims to bring stakeholders of the transportation sector to order.
Respect for the Highway Code and better transportation practices will be the most highlighted tenets.
The campaign, it is hoped, will eradicate incivility among road users in the town, and hence limit the numerous accident-related deaths.
This has proven particularly important, as the Ministry of Transport claims that 90% of these accidents are caused by human faults.
Common habits such as answering phones while driving, non-respect of traffic lights, and driving at high speed have been at the forefront of most accidents.
