A factory specialized in producing spices in Bamenda, capital of the North West Region, was consumed by fire last night. The ‘Kitchen Competition’ factory located at Old Town, Bamenda, was reduced to ashes after a sudden fire spread across the building.
An eyewitness said it was caused by an electrical fault.
Despite prompt intervention from the population, very little could be saved from the building.
Bags of ginger, pepper, and other ingredients were reduced to ashes.
Elements of the army rescue unit arrived at the scene late but were able to contain the fire.
One person collapsed from shock as a result of the fire incident, according to The Observer237.
The fire adds to several other shocking fire incidents Bamenda has witnessed since the beginning of this year.
In February, a greater part of the Bamenda Main Market, a major trading center in the city, was consumed by fire.
On August 12, another fire erupted at Fons Street, consuming shops and causing huge material damage.
