Cameroon’s national airline, Camair-Co, has announced possible disruptions to flights operating in the northern parts of the country, following adverse weather conditions linked to a dust storm earlier warned by the Ministry of Transport.
In a statement issued Wednesday, February 18, the airline said the disruptions follow an alert from the Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Transport, which reported that a sandstorm, originating from the Sahara Desert, is currently causing a significant reduction in visibility across the northern regions and surrounding areas.
The Ministry had on Monday warned that the dust storm, expected to hit the Far North, North, and East regions between February 16 and 19, would bring reduced visibility, temperatures ranging between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius, and health risks to residents.
As a result of the deteriorating weather conditions, some flights departing from and arriving in these localities may experience delays or other operational disturbances, depending on visibility and safety assessments.
Camair-Co has advised passengers to regularly check the status of their flights and to update their telephone numbers in their reservation files in order to receive timely information related to their travel.
The airline emphasized that passenger safety remains its top priority and expressed appreciation to its customers for their understanding and continued trust.
